At the heart of our worldwide programmes
lie the most comprehensive home study courses available. They combine
some of our finest teaching material, carefully selected from the
accumulated resources of the School since it was founded, with regularly
updated current approaches to give you thorough, enjoyable and creative
study. You can start whenever you like and the courses can be spread
over time. In this way they can be fitted into busy life schedules.
Encouragement and guidance is given from a personally assigned
tutor who supports you throughout your endeavours, giving extensive
written feedback on your assignments. Mentors and tutors are practicing
and fully qualified homeopathic practitioners, chosen for their
skills in helping you learn. The home study course manager, Amanda
Norland, supervises your progress, and is available for queries
or pastoral care. We also have other in-house facilitation, should
any problems be beyond our scope to solve. If you have email access,
then this is the most effective way to send in your assignments
and to ask any questions regarding your study.
"Thank you for making the International
Study Program available. It has enriched my life and the lives of
those around me tremendously and even though I still have quite
a long way to go I am convinced that I have discovered my 'purpose.'

You have the benefit of carefully edited CD recordings of classroom
teachings, CD’s of actual cases and interactions, plentiful
amounts of underpinning information, and numerous examples of past
students’ work. You are guided through the topics by reference
to books and as well as by specifically written explanations, descriptions
and diagrams. You check your progress and reinforce your learning
through self-assessment questions and model answers. At the end
of each study unit, you send written assignments to your tutor for
feedback and assessment. All of this can be done at your own rate
and in your own time. Self-reflection plays a crucial role in your
learning and later in developing your skills in casework.
"I am becoming more and more involved
and obsessed with homoeopathy and I really enjoy this school with
all the opportunities you offer and also with the materials. I like
the whole system; that I can learn everything from distance, free
from obligations, no deadlines, no tests, the whole thing is upon
me and this gives a lot of freedom and free choice, much more inspiration
than with deadlines (at least for me). So thank you for you and
Amanda and the whole staff for making and leading such a wonderful
college."

Our home study programmes alter slightly in different parts
of the world. After each course description in the courses section
programme differences are detailed. Please note, however, that the
study material is the same in all courses; it is only the support
network options that alter. All students wishing to become practitioners
have to attend some form of clinical workshops and go into clinical
supervision.
Our unique approach for UK students means that you have the
flexible option for year one and year two of either part-time attendance
or home study. You can also change over between these two at any
time, subject to arrangement. All UK students come together at May
and June weekends at the end of Year 2 (the Introduction into Practice
Course), ready for the more practical and clinically based training
in the Practitioner Advanced Diploma Course - Years 3 & 4 (with optional
classes in Year 5 at practitioner level).
UK Home study students are further supported by study days. Each
student attends a minimum of three study days per year. The days
are run by the student tutors, so the students not only get to meet
one another building networks and relationships, but they also get
to meet their tutors.
We also run UK Summer Schools; these are held at the School of
Homeopathy in Devon. These weekend events are held in May or June
each year and are open to all students, but priority is given to
UK students. All UK home study students have to attend at least
one UK Summer School.
Our approach for North American students provides the flexibility
of study at your own pace, from home, with the thoroughness of a
rigorous curriculum, supplemented with hands-on face-to-face work
in the form of regional seminars, clinical workshops and a one-on-one
clinical supervision programme.
As with all our regional programme options, coursework is divided
into yearly segments: year one, the Foundation Course; year two,
the Introduction into Practice Course; and years three and four,
the Practitioner Advanced Diploma Course. However, we are quite liberal in
the amount of time allotted to finish each ‘year’, as
we know many of you have busy lives, and are not able to devote
full-time to your studies. In North America, each year you have
the opportunity to attend at least one 3-day regional seminar, where
you will meet senior faculty from the UK, and form connections with
your fellow students. In years three and four, you attend two weeklong
clinical workshops, and after completing the necessary medical science
courses offered, begin your in-practice supervision.
We have students in over 50 countries. Our approach for International
students means you can study the program from anywhere in the world.
Each year of the course is divided into easy to manage Units, which
you study whilst listening to the CD lectures from the School and
reading the specially selected books. At the end of each Unit you
write up your assessments and then send them off to your personal
tutor. All our tutors are highly skilled mentors and are used to
working with students from across the world. They are also all professional
homeopaths and almost all of them studied with us at the School.
We also hold yearly International Summer Schools at the School
in Devon. These 7-day events are especially created for International
home study students and are led by the School’s principal
Misha Norland and quite often other senior faculty members. The
main focus is on video cases and group work. The Summer Schools
are a key part of the program, exposing students to plenty of clinic
hours and case taking. They are a great place for students to meet
face-to-face getting to know one another and the School.
Our supervision network program means that we take students right
the way through to clinical practice. International students can
either work remotely with one of our professionally trained supervisors
via email and telephone or they can submit an application to work
with someone they choose locally. Either way we work with the student
to find the best solution for their needs.
You are also very welcome to arrange to sit in on weekend sessions
at the School in the UK and to attend the UK weekend summer school
sessions.
"With all the educational programs I've
been through (including medical school and psychiatry residency),
the Devon School's North American program is the most valuable,
well thought-out, thought-provoking, rigorous, inspiring, and clinically
relevant training that I've experienced. Tutors, faculty, administration
were all extremely responsive and caring. A great foundation for
my evolving work as a homeopathic practitioner."
