For those who are new to it, homeopathy is a gentle, yet effective system of medicine which uses naturally occurring substances in the form of remedies to stimulate the body's own healing power. It is suitable for everyone, even sensitive patients, from pregnancy, childhood and adolescence to adulthood and older age. The remedies are safe to take and have no side-effects.

Over 30 million people across Europe use Homeopathic medicines including Royals, entertainers, sports people, actors and politicians. Some examples are:  British Royal Family, Sir Paul Mc Cartney, Catherine Zeta Jones, Bill Clinton, Mother Teresa, Florence Nightingale and W.B.Yeats.

Here’s how homeopathy can help make your Christmas a happy one:

Aching body after shopping for Christmas?

For sore joints probably the most widely used Homeopathic remedy is Rhus.Tox.  The symptoms that will respond to this remedy are sore aching joints after long exertion, made worse for sitting or lying down for any length of time and when you try to get up again you are very stiff.
Bryonia is another remedy that can be used here but is better for rest and firm pressure on affected area.

Been partying the night before?

The well known ‘hangover’ remedy Nux Vomica can be used. Also drink plenty of water both before going to bed and on getting up in the morning. Alcohol dehydrates and you need to replenish your body with liquids. Take one dose of Nux Vomica before going to bed and if necessary once again in the morning.

Sleepless because of worry about all the things you have to do?

A good remedy to have on hand for those sleepless, anxious nights is either Arsenicum or Valeriana. Try to take the remedy about an hour before going to bed and ensure you’re leaving yourself time to relax a bit and do some deep breathing too.

Big Christmas dinner leaves you bloated and uncomfortable?

Overindulgence can be one of the biggest problems at Christmas so have some Nux Vomica or Pulsatilla on hand to help. Nux Vomica will help with generally overdoing it (food and alcohol) whereas Pulsatilla will help those who feel slightly sick after rich, creamy food. Also going for a lovely walk after the Christmas dinner will usually help alleviate indigestion and accumulated wind!
