the school - our valuese

The values that we hold at our core radiate to others and inform how we behave.

SOH Values

Compassion
We draw inspiration from nature. This in turn teaches us to act out of compassion. Compassion guides our actions and leads us on our healing mission. “If you can’t do it with love in your heart, then steady yourself with awareness and self restraint.” Compassion leads us to take care of our environment as well as each other.

Example: We aspire to be in the flow of compassion when we interact with each other, and to act non-aggressively towards each other. This is modelled when we share and teach our cases, when we explain and expand upon homeopathic philosophy.

Community
We are a close group within which most have worked together for over two decades. We create a home from home, a place where people can be themselves and flourish. We foster sharing and open relationships. We look after one another.

Example: Students have the freedom to express themselves in the safe ‘home’ of the School. We are accessible and welcoming. We support students throughout their journey at the School.

Healing
Our aim is to improve health and initiate healing. We look after others and ourselves.

Example: Teachers and staff pass on the craft of homeopathic healing so that students may be set on their healer’s journey.

Clarity
We aim to express ideas and feelings with clarity. We aim to stay grounded and clear minded. We are guided by well developed educational and homeopathic principles. Our communication is underpinned by CORBS. We do not dress things up, making more out of less, or by weaving veils of ‘idle speculation’.

Example: We pay attention to ‘under-tones’ and ‘tacit assumptions’ while tutoring and teaching. We may use charts and diagrams to convey complex information, or initiate group activities to encourage experiential learning.

Trust
We aim to be transparent and honest at all times. We trust that our colleagues and students will act likewise. We stand by each other and our students.

Example: Our records and assessments are open to all students, we do not have hidden agendas.

Method
We have clear systems, policies and theories, that align robustly with what we stand for as a School and with what we do in practice.

Example: Our systems, policies and processes are documented, so staff or students can see them.

Nurturing
We enjoy life’s differences and value individuals for who they are, appreciating their opinions and personal characteristics. We give care. We help others to develop and grow. We would like people to be well in themselves and to be successful.

Example: We have a fully fledged supervision process that helps students set up practice within their own community.

Dynamic
We work with energy, and we bring energy to what we do. We are positive and enthusiastic. We have a strong sense of purpose. We enjoy change and development.

Example: We teach from our passion. We embrace new ideas and are committed to continuing development and to extending and amending our curriculum. This is on-going!

My studies were the richest and most satisfying educational experience I have had – and that's saying a lot, as I have been through university, allopathic medical school, psychiatric residency training, and Jungian analytic training.
