UK Programme

We launched our UK programme back in 1981, over 40 years ago. In the UK we offer the unique combination of attendance or online home study. The two study methods follow the same modules and are therefore interchangeable.  You can start on one study method and then move to the other if desired. Our course combines the flexibility of distance learning and attendance with the rigorous training needed to become a successful homeopathic practitioner. This is because students can blend in-depth independent work with hands on face-to-face training. The attendance course starts each year in October, the online course can be started at any time (with a rolling start date).

You can even ‘port’ the home study part of the course from one country to another. All this adds up to making our course the most in-depth and flexible program available. Read on and see why so many have trained with us.

Our programme progresses through four levels (see the courses section of the site for more detail). For those who wish to practice homeopathy we offer our highest certification, the Homeopathy Practitioner Advanced Diploma PDHom (Adv), this course consists of:

Course Overview

Attendance
The course is by part-time attendance. Classes are held at Hawkwood in Stroud, Gloucestershire, with seven teaching weekends from October to June. These include four in-person longer weekends (Friday to Sunday) at Hawkwood, and three shorter weekends (Saturday to Sunday) via Zoom. In addition, you'll have access to our Online Learning System to upload assignments and track your study progress throughout the course.

By coming in-person you receive first hand teaching from our world-class faculty and you get to know us and your fellow learners.

In each module there are lectures on philosophy, materia medica, repertory and casework. During the teaching homework is set. This is completed via home directed study (between modules) and handed in prior to the next module. Evaluation of work is through continual assessment, there are no exams. The School is near a mainline train station, reachable from London in 90 minutes, and is a short distance from the M4, the M5 and Bristol airport. Hawkwood isa 19th Century manor house nestled in the peaceful Cotswold countryside.

Home Study
Each year of the course is divided into easy-to-manage Units, which you study whilst listening to the audio and movie lectures from the School and reading the specially selected books. The recordings bring the best of the classroom teachings to you at home. You get numerous recordings of patient cases with discussions as well as generous amounts of supporting information, examples of student work and model answers.

During the course you are guided through the topics by reference to books and supporting explanations, descriptions, and diagrams. You are able to check your progress and reinforce your learning through self-assessment questions and model answers. At the end of each Unit you write up your assessments and then send them off to your personal tutor. All our tutors are highly skilled mentors and are used to working with students from across the world. They are also all professional homeopaths and almost all of them studied with us at the School of Homeopathy.

You are also invited to regular zoom activities so you get to see and meet other students and faculty. We have a monthly discussion group, tutor group meetings, online clinics and webinars.

Each course is accompanied by a book list that is essential reading for your study. We offer these books with a 10% discount through The School of Health.

Clinical Observation & Practice

Our online clinic provides affordable clinical training for both home study and attendance students. Clinics are held monthly via Zoom, with both daytime and evening sessions available. The online clinics are included in your course fees, and you can attend as many as you like throughout the 4-year programme. All students, whether home study or attendance, are required to complete a minimum of 100 clinical observation hours. In addition, we offer an annual Clinical Summer School in the UK, featuring live clinics and video case studies. These intensive week-long events provide 50 hours of clinical observation, offering a significant boost to your learning and skills. Students gain the expertise and confidence needed to handle a wide range of cases.

Supervised Practice

Supervision is a key part of the final years of the course. It is essential to becoming a competent, confident, creative and compassionate homeopath. During the later half of the Higher Diploma course you will choose and work with a supervisor. Our supervisors are fully trained homeopaths who will work alongside you during your case receiving. You will take some cases with them in the same room and some on your own. You will discuss all aspects of your cases and practice with them and they will help you to develop your competence as a homeopath as well as ensure your prescriptions. Supervision is a wonderful and rewarding stage of development where you will learn to take flight as a homeopath. We were one of the first to recognise and develop supervision as a critical part of the course.

What I love about homeopathy is the satisfaction of the one to one contact with the patients, and the feeling that you're really making a difference to peoples lives.
