Student Journeys into Homeopathy

There is no typical School of Homeopathy student

Some join because they want a new career. Others want to care for their family more confidently. Some come from healthcare, while others simply feel drawn towards a different way of understanding health. Many are balancing work, children and busy lives. Some study quickly, others take their time. What they all share is a curiosity about homeopathy and a desire to make a difference. Here are six of their stories, in their own words.

From gardener to thriving community homeopath

When it comes to job satisfaction, I really couldn't be happier. It's the everyday victories that bring me so much joy. I am without a doubt doing what I am called to do.

Melissa discovered homeopathy while raising her family in Portugal. Although she had grown up with homeopathy, it wasn't until her early thirties that she realised it was more than an interest—it was her calling. Returning to the UK, she enrolled on the School's Practitioner Course. Today she runs a successful community practice in Cornwall, helping families across her local area while enjoying the flexibility of self-employment. Looking back, Melissa believes the School gave her an exceptionally thorough education, lifelong professional friendships and the confidence to build a thriving practice. She continues to learn, grow and enjoy the work every day.

Finding a new profession while raising two boys

I'm a different person after studying homeopathy. I'm healthier, calmer and more confident now. I've also found a new profession and a new family that I've got for life.

Sarah first turned to homeopathy after recovering from a serious illness. Inspired by her own experience, she enrolled on the Practitioner Course while raising two young boys as a single mother. During her studies she faced redundancy, family pressures and moments when giving up seemed the easier option. With the support of her tutor and the School community she kept going, graduating with her children proudly beside her. For Sarah, the course was about much more than gaining a qualification. It transformed her confidence, her health and her future.

Homeopathy Student David Feakes

David Feakes

From nursing to homeopathy

The course has made a huge difference in my life. Four years later I had my practitioner's diploma and now I work in a clinic part-time. I never looked back.

Already working as a nurse in adult and child protection, David wanted a flexible course that would fit around full-time work and frequent travel. The home study route allowed him to study wherever he was while gradually developing both professionally and personally. Along the way he discovered a completely new way of understanding health and disease. Today David combines nursing with clinical homeopathy and says the course changed not only his career, but also the way he sees people and health itself.

Dotty Forest

Studying around work, family and life

Be prepared to be challenged—but in a good way. You won't look at yourself, your fellow humans or the world in the same way ever again.

As a secondary school teacher working full-time, Dotty needed a course she could fit around an already demanding career. The flexibility of home study meant she could learn at her own pace, listening to lectures while travelling to work and studying when family life allowed. After having children she paused her studies before later returning on the attendance course—a transition the School fully supported. Dotty's story shows that there is no single route through the course. Life changes, and sometimes your studies change with it.
