Student Journeys into Homeopathy

Homeopathy First Aid Course
Learning homeopathy can give you the confidence and practical knowledge to make more informed choices about your family’s health.
For me, the First Aid Course was the perfect way to deepen something I had already valued for years. It fitted easily around family life, gave me a solid foundation in homeopathy and, perhaps most importantly, gave me a little time and space to invest in myself. It has been a wonderful skill to gain, and one that I know will stay with me for life.
I have always been passionate about natural health. For me, it isn’t ‘alternative’ or ‘complementary’ but essential! My mother and grandmother used homeopathic and herbal and flower remedies for minor ailments when I was a child, and I have used homeopathy as my ‘go-to’ solution for health issues for as long as I can remember. When I became a mother myself, it was homeopathy that I turned to. I wanted to understand more about how it works so that I could make more informed choices when caring for my family at home.
I saw an advert for the First Aid Course in a Juno parenting magazine, and my homeopath, who had herself trained with The School of Homeopathy, recommended the School to me. I had been given some birthday money and decided that, rather than buying a ‘thing’, I would invest in a skill and knowledge that could be useful for years to come. The correspondence course suited me perfectly because I could fit it around my busy life and home-educating my three daughters.
It felt very important to carve out a little bit of ‘me’ time from the demands of family life, so returning to study was a real pleasure. The course has given me much more confidence in prescribing remedies for my family, recognising and responding sensitively to symptoms as they occur, and understanding when something is beyond my own knowledge and it’s time to call in a professional. Having that understanding has saved us a lot of time and unnecessary worry.
I also found the course beautifully packaged and presented, which made sitting down to study a genuinely enjoyable experience. The content, progression and layout were logical and easy to follow. I loved cross-referencing the information in the course folder with the books provided, as well as exploring further reading of my own. There was a great variety of subjects too, including the history of homeopathy, remedy preparation, remedy profiles and case-taking.
The sections are organised into manageable, bite-sized chunks, so every stage feels achievable and you never feel overwhelmed. The information is presented in a very personal way, and the regular mini-assignments gave me the opportunity to check my knowledge and understanding as I progressed. By the end, I felt I had gained a really solid foundation in homeopathy – a wonderful springboard from which I can continue learning.
I simply loved the movie lectures! They were a real highlight for me. I enjoyed snuggling up on the sofa to watch them, taking notes as I went along. Misha has such a friendly and approachable way of explaining things that it felt like having a cosy chat with a good friend. He often made me chuckle, and the anecdotes and descriptions helped bring the remedies to life and made them easier to understand and remember.
For me, the correspondence and online element of the course was key. It gave me the motivation to keep going while still allowing me to work around my children and our busy family life. My contact with The School of Homeopathy was always pleasant, helpful and encouraging, which made the whole experience feel very supported.
To anybody considering this course, I would say, ‘Don’t spend time thinking about it, just jump in and do it!’ It has given me so much, and now, of course, I’m dreaming about doing the full practitioner training. It’s good to have dreams!
