Gastric Flu

Gastric flu, or gastroenteritis, refers to inflammation of the stomach and intestines, usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. It is characterised by symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and sometimes fever. Gastric flu is highly contagious and can spread through contaminated food, water or close contact with an infected person.

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that works on the principle of "like cures like." It uses highly diluted substances to stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms. Homeopathic remedies can be effective in addressing anxiety by addressing the underlying causes and promoting overall wellbeing.

Here are seven commonly used homeopathic remedies for gastric flu:

Other natural ways to help gastric flu heal:

1. Hydration: Drink plenty of fluids, including water, herbal teas, clear broths and electrolyte-rich drinks, to prevent dehydration caused by vomiting and diarrhoea.

2. BRAT diet: Follow a BRAT diet consisting of bananas, rice, apple sauce and toast. These bland foods are gentle on the stomach and can help alleviate symptoms.

3. Probiotics: Consume probiotic-rich foods or take probiotic supplements to support gut health and restore the balance of beneficial bacteria in the digestive system.

4. Ginger: Drink ginger tea or chew on fresh ginger to ease nausea and settle the stomach.

5. Peppermint: Sip on peppermint tea or use peppermint oil capsules (under professional guidance) to relieve gastrointestinal discomfort, including bloating and cramps.

6. Rest: Get plenty of rest to allow your body to recover and heal. Avoid strenuous activities that may worsen symptoms or cause dehydration.

7. Maintain good hygiene: Wash your hands frequently, especially before handling food, to prevent the spread of infection. Avoid close contact with others while experiencing symptoms to minimize transmission.

It's important to consult with a qualified homeopathic practitioner for a proper evaluation and individualised treatment plan. They can provide personalised guidance based on your specific symptoms and needs. Remember, if the gastric flu is severe, persistent or accompanied by a lot of fluids being lost, it is important to seek medical advice.
